The old and strong castle of Gualdo Cattaneo stands on the sidelines north - west of the territory which was under the political influence of Spoleto and this was long disputed between Foligno and the same Spoleto.
The study toponomastico as the name of Gualdo derives from "wald" selva, realized the wealth of forests surrounding the area. On the main square stands a mighty cylindrical tower built in 1494, the church shows a facade adorned with reliefs depicting the Lamb with mystical symbols of the four evangelists and within a beautiful century crypt. The church of St. Augustine preserves an interesting ogival door on the left of and within a few paintings meanings of XIV and XV century.
