Tuoro sul Trasimeno is a town of 3,546 inhabitants in the province of Perugia. It overlooks the northern part of Lake Trasimeno, where there is a beach, the Lido di Tuoro. There is a gate for direct ferry to Isola Maggiore and to Isola Polvese.
Near the beach is on a lawn Campo del Sol, an open-air museum consists of 27 sandstone sculptures, works of contemporary artists.
Here, in 217 BC, was fought the battle of Lake Trasimeno between Romans and Carthaginians.
In the Middle Ages four castles protected area, the last strip west of the Municipality of Perugia, path from the main road between Perugia and Cortona. Some testimonies of them are still at Borghetto, a Monte Gualandro and Vernazzano.
In the sixteenth century, Tuoro was a big village not fortified, dedicated to agriculture and crafts.
